Our Mission

The Tragic City Rollers is a competitive roller derby league that strives to develop women of athleticism and character. Founded in 2005 in Birmingham, AL, the Tragic City Rollers realize that roller derby is more than just a sport; it is social activism, community service, and a character-building activity for women across different social backgrounds. It is the league’s goal to enrich the lives of our skaters and fans while also bringing awareness to local charities and businesses.

The Skaters

Our skaters range in age from 19 to 45. We are mothers, teachers, IT professionals, librarians, servers, nurses, social workers, students and everything in between. Each skater is a part of one of our two home teams, the Hot Quads and Rollsheviks. In addition to that skaters may also be placed on our all star travel team, the Tragic City All Stars or our B team. If you are interested in joining, please get more information here.

The Officials

Our officiating crew consists of both skating(referees) and non-skating officials(NSOs). This crew is responsible for ensuring fair play, safety, and other aspects of bout production such as score keeping and penalty tracking. Get more information on joining the officiating crew here.
